Fully-Funded Rotary Peace Fellowships 2021-2022

  Each year, Rotary selects up to 100 individuals from around the world to receive fully funded Rotary peace fellowships at one of its Peace Centers.  These fellowships cover tuition fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and all internship and field study expenses.

  Applications for the Rotary Peace Fellowship in the USA will open in February 2021 for all international students.  Now is the time for you to familiarize yourself with the documents you will need for the Rotary Scholarship application and then prepare accordingly.

  About the Rotary Peace Fellowships


  Since the program began in 2002, the Rotary Centers for Peace have trained more than 1,300 fellows who now work in more than 115 countries.  Many work as leaders in governments, NGOs, the military, education, law enforcement, and international organizations such as the United Nations and the World Bank.

  The Rotary Peace Fellowship is designed for leaders with practical experience in peace and development.  Our colleagues are committed to community service, international service, and the pursuit of peace.  Each year, the Rotary Foundation awards up to 50 fellowships for master’s degrees and 80 for degrees at leading universities.

  Rotary International is a family of 1.2 million members belonging to different countries, colors and societies.  He works on global problems with real and intelligent vision.  From health and water to literacy, Rotary International issues have been resolved in various societies.

  All leaders active in their communities can benefit from this fellowship through practice, global networks, and academic training.  It will develop leaders’ ability to develop peace as practitioners and professionals.

  The Rotary peace fellowships will cover round-trip tuition fees, training, transportation, accommodation expenses, and field study expenses.  It is a great opportunity to build intercultural understanding and learn about strategic architecture and vision.

  Types of Rotary Peace Fellowships

  1. Master’s degree

  It offers master’s degree fellowships at leading universities in fields related to peace, conflict prevention and resolution.  The programs last from 15 to 24 months and require a practical training of two to three months during the academic break.  Each year, up to 50 master’s scholarships are awarded at these institutions: Duke University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA, International Christian University, Japan, University of Bradford, England, University of Queensland, Australia, and Uppsala University, Sweden

  2. Professional development certificate

  For experienced professionals working in peace-related fields who wish to enhance their professional skills, Rotary offers a three-month program in peace, conflict prevention and resolution at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand.  This program includes two to three weeks of field study.  We award up to 50 certificates every year.

  Eligibility for Rotary Peace Fellowships

The Rotary Peace Fellowship is designed for professionals with practical experience in international relations or peace and conflict prevention and resolution.  Fellows are obligated to serve the community and the world and strive for peace.  Applicants must also meet the following requirements:

  • English language proficiency.  Fluency in a second language is highly recommended
  • Strong commitment to international understanding and peace as evidenced by professional and academic achievements and personal or community service
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Master’s degree applicants: at least three years of relevant full-time work or volunteer experience, Bachelor’s degree
  • Degree applicants: At least five years of full-time work or volunteer experience, strong academic background

  Eligibility Limitations

 Rotary Peace Fellowships may not be used for PhD study.  The following persons are not eligible for the master’s degree program:

  • Active and honorable Rotary members
  • Employees of a Rotary club, region, Rotary International or any other Rotary entity
  • Spouses or descendants of lineage (children or grandchildren by blood or legal adoption) or the spouses of descendants or ancestors of any living person in these groups (parents or grandparents by blood)
  • Former Rotarians and their relatives as defined above (within 36 months of their resignation)
  • Holders of the Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships or Professional Development Certificate Fellowships must wait three years after completion of the scholarship or fellowship to apply for the master’s degree program.
  • Rotary Peace fellows who have completed a master’s degree program must wait five years to apply for the degree program.

  How to apply for the Rotary Peace Fellowships

  To apply for the Rotary Peace Fellowships, the following instructions must be followed:

  • Review application guidelines and verify eligibility requirements and restrictions.
  • Researching curricula and programs in each of the Rotary Peace Centers.  You will be asked to arrange two centers that you prefer.
  • Prepare your application, including your CV / résumé, articles, academic or professional recommendations, transcripts, and test scores.  All materials must be in English.  For certification candidates, no transcripts and results are required.
  • Contact your local Rotary District before submitting your application to request an interview.  District authentication is a required component of the application process.  Tip: Your local Rotary Club can help you get in touch with your area.  Use Club Finder to locate the club closest to you.  Club interviews and recommendations are highly encouraged, but not required for candidates with district support.
  • Before any interviews, submit your application online to your area by May 31st.
  • Complete an interview with district representatives.  Counties must submit endorsements for the Rotary Foundation by July 1.
  • Wait for notification of selection results in November.  If you are selected for a fellowship, you will be informed of the peace center at which you will study.
